Over the last fifty years, older industrial cities throughout the Northeastern and Midwestern United States have experienced dramatic economic decline and outward migration. To counter this narrative of decline and the moniker of the rust belt, efforts are underway throughout New York State to help the region’s struggling older industrial cities change that narrative of loss to one of promise by capitalizing on these cities economic, structural, and cultural potential.
