Overview

Throughout many parts of the Northeastern, Southeastern and Midwestern United States a rise in the population of white-tailed deer has lead to a diverse set of impacts on the landscape. Among these impacts is deer browse on native plant species throughout these regions’ woodlands.  To better understand the impact of deer browse at the local level, professor Bernd Blossey (Cornell University) has been studying the impact of deer abundance on native red oak sentinels.
