For people throughout rural Mozambique, food insecurity is a major concern. To help address the combined issues of food security, economic development and resource conservation, the Government of Mozambique created the Primieras e Segundas Environmental Protection Area, or PSEPA in 2012. Recognizing the challenges faced by communities within the PSEPA, CARE and the World Wildlife Fund have been working with local government and civil society partners throughout the region on a multi-pronged effort that addresses many of the challenges facing the region’s farms and fisheries by promoting sustainable resource management practices.
